The Top Wineries to Visit in Virginia

With over 300 wineries, Virginia is fast becoming the place to visit. Located just 50 miles west of Washington D.C. awaits over 4,000 acres of planted wine grapes. Choosing which Virginia winery to visit can be difficult, so we have gathered our favorites for you below.

Stone Tower Winery

Located in Leesburg, Stone Tower Winery boasts 300 acres of beautiful landscape. With 17 specialty wines on their menu, there is something to suit everyone’s personal taste.

Their ultimate goal? To produce world-class wines, handcrafted from their own estate vines. They’re open Thursday through Monday, meaning there’s plenty of opportunities to visit this incredible winery.

Bluemont Vineyard

The smaller of the Virginia wineries, Bluemont Vineyard is based over 100 acres but grows 10 vertices of grapes, including Viognier, Norton, and Cabernet Franc.

Established in 2007, the family-owned vinery encourages customers to escape to the edge of the Blue Ridge Mountains for a day of wine tasting or to enjoy an overnight stay in their onsite cottages.

The vineyard’s tasting room is open daily for guests and can be booked online.

Zephaniah Farm Vineyard

Unlike the other wineries on our list, Zephaniah began as a working farm in 1950, with the first grapes not planted until 2002. Today, they are open every weekend with the opportunity to taste their 11 speciality family blended wines.

The rustic nature of this vineyard and working farm allows for a relaxing environment – where else could you sit listening to farm animals while sipping on the best wines Leesburg has to offer?

Reservations are required to visit, so check out their website today to make your booking.
